VOTING AND ELECTION INFORMATION

The City of Lomita General Municipal Election is held in November during even-numbered years. The City Council is composed of five Council Members elected at-large. The Mayor is selected by other members of the City Council for a term of one year.  Council Members serve for staggered terms of four years. 

The next general municipal election will be held in November 2018 to be consolidated with the County of Los Angeles General Election.Currently, the Mayor and Council Memebrs receive a salary of $390.00 per month.

Eligibility and Candidacy

he City of Lomita adopted an Ordinance which allowed the City to consolidate its future elections with the County of Los Angeles Registrar of Voters Office. Pursuant to SB415, all cities are required to consolidate all its future election with the County; therefore, the City of Lomita’s November election that was to occur this November 2017, has been canceled.  The next General Election forLomita will be in November 2018 which will be consolidated with the County of Los Angeles. Voter Registration

Voters qualify for registration by being a U.S. citizen, aged 18 years or older, a resident of Lomita, and neither in prison nor on parole for a felony conviction. Re-registration is required if you have moved since you last registered, changed your name, or changed your political party affiliation.

The registration deadline is 15 days before an election. Voter Registration forms are available in the City of Lomita Clerk's Office, Los Angeles Register/Recorder Offices and most public buildings including Department of Motor Vehicles Offices, Post Offices, etc. 

You may register in person by visiting one of the Los Angeles County Registrar's Offices and mail a completed registration form.  You may also register to vote online at the California Secretary of State's website.
