  2. Presentation of certificates of appreciation to Larry DeFrance and Gilbert Torres for donation of and transporting stone monuments for various city memorials.

    Presentation of plaque to Sandy Loftin, teacher at Lomita Magnet School, in appreciation for her outstanding contribution to the students of Lomita.

    Presentation of plaques to Evan Roberts, Nicholas Lancaster and Chelsea Stevens, students at the Advanced Education School for collecting food and bedding for dogs involved in search and rescue at theWorld Trade Center.

    Presentation of plaque to Becky Stephens, Lomita Mail Car, for shipping goods to New York free of charge.

    Presentation of proclamation declaring November 15th as America Recycles Day

  3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
  4. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  6. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  7. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

  1. Approval of Minutes: August 6, September 4 and 6
  2. Approval of Demands – $500,377.77
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading.
  4. Report recommending purchase of a used Navistar bucket truck and aerial bucket for Tree Maintenance Division for a total of $47,200. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  5. Report recommending purchase of customer service/meter reader vehicle from Don Kott Ford for $15,317.20. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  6. Report submitting resolution requiring a certificate of insurance for the placement of portable business signs in the Downtown area. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  7. Report submitting revised Narbonne Avenue traffic striping and boulevard stops. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

  1. ANGLE PARKING ORDINANCE
  2. Public hearing on a proposed ordinance specifying the locations on public streets where angle parking is allowed and the angle at which vehicles may park. Presented by Comm Dev Drtc Kawasaki.

  3. TENTATIVE PARCEL MAP NO 26121
  4. Public hearing on a request to subdivide a lot at 24515, 24517 and 24519 Eshelman Avenue in Zone R-1. Presented by Comm Dev Drtc Kawasaki.

  5. FILMING ACTIVITIES

Public hearing on a proposed ordinance which provides rules governing issuance of permits for filming activities on location within the city and a proposed resolution setting a fee for a film permit application. Presented by Asst City Adm Irwin.
