  4. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  6. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  7. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

 

  1. Approval of Minutes: January 17 and 24
  2. Approval of Demands – $337,929.42
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading
  4. Second reading and adoption of Ordinance No 637 which amends the Municipal Code relative to special development standards for hotels and motels. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  5. Report recommending that the City Council meet with the Chamber of Commerce at 6:00 PM April 2nd. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  6. Report recommending that staff proceed with advertising for architectural and engineering services to demolish and construct new gymnasium/community center. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  7. Report recommending no parking for street sweeping purposes on Viana Avenue, Pacific Coast Highway southerly. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  8. Report recommending no parking on the north side of 258th Place from Cayuga to the easterly city boundary and on the south side from 175’ east of Cayuga to the easterly city boundary. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  9. Report submitting contract renewal with Signal Maintenance Inc for maintenance of city’s signalized intersections. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  10. Report approving specifications and call for proposals for a 4 cycle rammer compactor for use by the Water Department. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  11. Report submitting bids for the construction of perimeter walls at Railroad Museum and construction of 6’ wall at westerly end of 251st Street. RECOMMEND AWARD OF BID TO RTM COMMUNICATIONS FOR $56,493.
  12. Report relative to striping and signage of bikeway path on Eshelman Avenue. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

SCHEDULED MATTERS

  1. LOOKING GOOD LOMITA
  2. Report relative to 2nd annual Looking Good Lomita, a joint effort by Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Field Services Department and Lomita Tree Committee to plant trees, clean up landscaping and pick up trash in celebration of Arbor Day. Presented by Field Services Director vanGeest.

  3. COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR BUSINESS PLAN
  4. Report regarding implementation of overall Economic Development Business Plan outlined in the Commercial Corridor Strategic Direction report. Presented by Special Projects Officer Felix.

     

  5. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

Request from Councilmember Traina to consider merits of augmenting the current Façade Improvement Program.
