  2. Presentation of inlieu donation to Lomita Little League for services of Traffic Safety Commissioner Bill Boyer.

  3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
  4. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  6. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  7. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

  1. Approval of Minutes – Minutes of December 4 and January 2
  2. Approval of Demands – $443,335.27
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading
  4. Report submitting specifications for construction of perimeter retaining walls at the Railroad Museum and concrete wall at the westerly end of 251st Street. RECOMMEND APPROVAL & CALL FOR BIDS.
  5. Report requesting authorization to proceed with planning for the Lomita 5000 Run/Walk scheduled for June 24, 2001. RECOMMEND APPROVAL

PUBLIC HEARINGS

  1. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO 204
  2. Public hearing on an appeal of Planning Commission denial of a request to modify Condition No 5 of Conditional Use Permit No 159 which requires a masonry wall 6 feet high along easterly property line. The applicant is requesting to substitute a 6 foot high wood fence. Conditional Use Permit No 159 was a request to serve beer and wine as an accessory to an existing restaurant at 2347 Pacific Coast Highway in Zone C-R. Presented by Comm Dev Drtr Kawasaki.

    SCHEDULED MATTERS

  3. STRATEGIC DIRECTION FOR COMMERCIAL CORRIDORS
  4. Report submitting recommendations relative to strategic direction for Downtown, Lomita Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. Presented by Comm Dev Drtr Kawasaki.

  5. DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS

Report recommending award of contract to Kobata Associates for $45,075 to complete design and engineering drawings for streetscape improvements on Narbonne Avenue. Presented by Comm Drtr Kawasaki.
