  1. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
  2. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  4. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  5. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

 

  1. Approval of Minutes: February 22 (2) and March 6
  2. Approval of Demands – $257,772.59
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading
  4. Second reading and adoption of Ordinance No 620 which changes the zoning of Hathaway Park, 25604 and 25616 Pennsylvania Avenue from A-1 to O-S. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  5. Report submitting resolution prohibiting rollerskating, skateboarding or bicycling at the Civic Center Complex and Park and Ride Lot. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  6. Report recommending that contract with Nationwide Environmental Services for street sweeping services for $56,699.85 be approved. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

g. Designation of Councilmember Estrada to advisory board for Local Law Enforcement Block Grant program. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

  1. Report from Traffic Safety Commission to install a Right Turn Only sign on the south side of 253rd Street in the median at its westbound approach to Walnut Street. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

SCHEDULED MATTERS

  1. CITY ENTRANCE SIGNS
  2. Presentation by Martinez/Amador of proposed city entrance signs. Presented by E.D. Coord. Felix.

  3. URGENCY ORDINANCE
  4. Presentation of urgency ordinance prohibiting meat processing businesses in Zone M-C (Light Manufacturing and Commercial). Presented by City Adm O’Connor.

  5. ARBOR DAY ACTIVITIES

Request from Lomita Girl Scouts requesting that city sponsor a lunch for volunteer participants of April 29th Arbor Day activities. Presented by City Adm O’Connor.
