2.      SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

 

Presentation of Certificate of Appointment to newly appointed Planning Commissioner Susan Dever and presentation of in lieu donation for her services on Safety Commission February 1998 -- September 1999. 

 

Presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to Gabriella Rodriguez for her many hours of dedicated volunteer hours to the City of Lomita

 

3.      ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL

 

The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

          

4.   ORAL COMMUNICATIONS

 

Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time.  When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record.  In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established.  Amendments to Government Code Section 54950 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda.  Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

 

5.   CONSENT AGENDA

 

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below.  There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion.  Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

 

a.                Approval of Minutes: September 20, October 4(2) and18

 

b.      Approval of Demands -- $533,804.68

 

c.        Motion to Waive Further Reading

 

d.      Report submitting resolution amending Res 81-56 establishing a compensation     plan for City Clerk.  RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

 

e.       Report submitting recommendation from Tree Committee that proposed Ordinance No 609 dealing with regulating the placement, maintenance and removal of trees on public property be adopted.  INTRODUCE & CALL FOR HEARING NOV 15.

 

f.        Report submitting resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application for the California "Trees for the Millennium" Initiative Funded through the Forest Resource Improvement Fund.  RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

 

SCHEDULED MATTERS

 

6.      PET POPULATION CONTROL PROGRAM

 

Report submitting request from County of Los Angeles Animal Care and Control requesting contribution to SAVE (Save-Adopt-Vacinate-Educate).  Presented by Asst City Adm Irwin.

 

7.      PARKWAY TREE AT 1871 W. 260TH ST

 

Report submitting appeal from Tree Committee denial of a request to remove a pine tree at 1871 W. 260th Street.  Presented by Field Services Supervisor vanGeest.
