Presentation of certificate to Robert Santos II from Narbonne High School for reporting potential dangerous situation.
Presentation of certificate to Sandy Loftin for selection as Teacher of the Year for the Narbonne/San Pedro cluster.
Presentation of certificate to Karl Kottke for contributions for the betterment of the city.
Presentation of city plaque to Wilfred Russell as Lomita’s 1999 Outstanding Older American.
The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.
Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.
All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
Public hearing on the final adoption of the Downtown Design Guidelines. Presented by Economic Development Coord Felix.
Public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 603 which adopts by reference the 1997 Uniform Building Code, 1998 Electrical Code, the 1997 Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes. Presented by Planner Kawasaki.
SCHEDULED MATTERS
Request from Councilmember Estrada to reconsider the dates for street closure of Narbonne Avenue.
Report submitting request to close 248th Street between Cypress Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for a July 4th street party. Presented by Asst City Adm Irwin.
Report submitting possible business incentives for discussion and consideration. Presented by Economic Development Coord Felix.
Report submitting costs for landscaping and other scenic beautification items on Pacific Coast Highway as requested by Councilmember Blackwood. Presented by Asst City Adm Irwin.
CLOSED SESSION
