  2. Presentation of certificates of appreciation to sponsors and participants of the 2nd annual Lomita Health Fair.

  3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
  4. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  6. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54950 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  7. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

  1. Approval of Minutes: September 21(2), September 22 and October 5
  2. Approval of Demands - $269,826.60
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading
  4. Report submitting recommendation from Traffic Safety Commission to install 20' of red curb on the south side of 256th Street adjacent to the east line of the marked crosswalk at Narbonne Avenue. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  5. Report submitting recommendation from Planning Commission to rezone property located at 25044-25104 Walnut Street from R-1 to RVD-5,000. INTRODUCE ORDINANCE AND CALL FOR HEARING NOV. 2.
  6. Report submitting recommendation from Planning Commission to rezone property located at the northeast corner of Woodward Avenue and W. 250th Street from R-1 to O-S (Open Space). INTRODUCE ORDINANCE AND CALL FOR HEARING NOV. 2.
  7. Report recommending approval of amendment to cable tv franchise agreement with MediaOne to extend terms of the agreement to January 31, 1999. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.

SCHEDULED MATTERS

  1. RECOGNITION OF BUSINESSES
  2. Discussion of criteria to be used in recognizing businesses that improve building facades and property as requested by Councilmember Blackwood.

  3. HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

Request from Chamber of Commerce regarding sidewalk displays, temporary signs, balloons and banners for November 30 - December 6. Presented by City Adm O'Connor.
