  4. The City Council may discuss and act upon items described under Council Comments; however, items which are not will be limited to Council reports, announcements or requests for clarification, or factual information, or to placement of matters on the agenda for a future meeting.

  5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
  6. Persons wishing to speak to the City Council on subjects other than those scheduled are requested to do so at this time. When addressing the council, please come to the podium and give your name and address for the record. In order to conduct a timely meeting, a 5 minute time limit per person has been established. Amendments to Government Code Section 54950 prohibit the City Council from taking any action on a specific item unless it appears on a posted agenda. Persons wishing discussion on Consent Agenda items should so state at this time.

  7. CONSENT AGENDA

All items under the Consent Agenda are considered by the Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed below. There may be separate discussion of these items prior to the time the Council votes on the motion. Specific items may be removed from the Consent Agenda at the request of any Councilmember or staff.

  1. Approval of Minutes: May 4, 18 (2), June 8, June 23 and 30
  2. Approval of Demands – $362,643.07
  3. Motion to Waive Further Reading
  4. Report from Traffic Safety Commission recommending installation of a yield sign at the northwest corner of Eshelman Avenue and Lomita Blvd. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  5. Report from Traffic Safety Commission recommending installation/restoration of "No Pedestrian Crossing/Use Crosswalk", restoration of Right Turn Only and removal of poles on Lomita Boulevard at Ebony Lane. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  6. Report from Traffic Safety Commission recommending installation of red curb near driveways at 2235 241st Street. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  7. Report from Traffic Safety Commission recommending installation of three additional one way signs with arrows in the alley north of Lomita Boulevard near the east line of Narbonne Ave. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  8. Report from Traffic Safety Commission recommending installation of red curb and four parking stall "T" markings near 25124 and 25200 Narbonne Avenue. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  9. Report submitting letter from Matt Turlo resigning from the Railroad Museum Board. ACCEPT RESIGNATION AND ADVERTISE VACANCY.
  10. Report submitting resolution and employment contract appointing the City Administrator. RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
  11. Report submitting bid for purchase of a 4-1 front loader bucket for backhoe for use by water department. RECOMMEND PURCHASE FROM COOK CONTRACTORS IN AMOUNT OF $4,730.83.

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS

  1. LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE DISTRICT NO. 1
  2. Public hearing regarding the proposed assessment for the maintenance and repair for public landscaping along the north side of Palos Verdes Drive North adjacent to the Rolling Ranchos tract. Presented by Interim City Administrator Irwin.

  3. PUBLIC PAY PHONES
  4. Public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 594 which establishes regulations for publicly accessible telephones and to establish an amortization schedule for abatement of nonconforming public telephones. Presented by City Attorney Vadon/Planner Kawasaki.

    SCHEDULED MATTERS

  5. CITY HALL ROSE GARDEN

Report submitting request from the Lomita Women’s Club to maintain the south rose garden in front of City Hall in memory of Vici Piechocinski as requested by Councilmember Estrada.

9. 1998 ELECTRIC UTILITY PROPOSITION

Report submitting request from the Southern California Edison Co to oppose the 1998 Electric Utility Proposition as requested by Councilmember Estrada.

  1. GENERAL PLAN CONSULTANT

Report submitting invoice from Marc Blodgett for General Plan expenses. Presented by Planner Kawasaki.
