PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following vacancies exist on City Commissions and Boards:

One (1) vacancy on the Planning Commission.  The Commission works with the Planning Department for the orderly growth of the community including preparation of the comprehensive General Plan.  It conducts investigations, holds hearings, and submits recommendations to the City Council on such matters as amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, tentative tract and parcel maps.  The Commission consists of seven members appointed by City Council to serve four-year terms.  The Commission meets at 7:00 PM on the second Monday of each month. 

Three (3) vacancies on the Railroad Foundation Executive Board.  The Board raises funds in support of the museum, supports the Lomita Railroad Museum Board, plans and develops special events, and recruits and trains volunteers.  The Board consists of seven members appointed by City Council to serve three-year terms.  Non-residents of Lomita are eligible.  The Board meets at 7:00 PM on the fourth Monday of each month.

Two (2) vacancies on the Tree Commission.   The Commission’s objectives include establishing and maintaining trees and plantings along the City’s streets and within neighborhoods; to maintain street trees appropriately to minimize hazard, nuisance, damage and maintenance costs: to assure efficient, cost effective management of City trees and to plan for sustained funding for the City’s tree program.  The Commission consists of five members appointed by City Council to serve four-year terms.  The Commission meets at 6:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month.

Interviews may be conducted by the City Council to fill the vacancies.  Qualifications include Lomita residency and voter registration.  Interested citizens should complete a citizen resume form and return to City Hall.  The application form is available here and at City Hall, 24300 Narbonne Avenue, 310-325-7110.
